I'm gla...It was nice of you to rescue the toad. I'm glad you're looking for a good place to let it go. If you have to keep it for a couple of days, put a jar lid of water in the space with the toad. The toad will absorb water by sitting in the jar lid and either soaking up water through its skin or taking the water into its cloaca (opening). Toads will eat live earthworms, but they have to be moving to get the toads' attention. Not sure what else you could find to feed it this time of year; toads are strictly predators. A pet store might have some crickets - they'll eat live crickets. But I do recommend releasing the toad, near some place where it can burrow under a rotting log for the winter.
