Our main competitors are other bamboo product manufacturers, and 4 or 5 shops like ours that carry all different bamboo products. Our advantage is in our selection, because we carry so many different brands. And we've been doing this for 5 years, making us the oldest all-bamboo store there is.

On our blog we discuss issues related to environmental awareness, green living, natural lifestyles. Sometimes we also write about local issues for our community, and about topics related to Buddhism, yoga, zen and eastern philosophy.

We will have to share this on our blog http://www.bambubatu.com/blog/bambu batuhttp://www.bambubatu.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17865787.post-62465646607219936492010-09-27T01:44:10.666-04:002010-09-27T01:44:10.666-04:00This article is simply superb. We manufacture appar...Hi, this is Mo from Bamboosa. We manufacture apparel and baby products from bamboo fiber and have done so here is SC for the past five years. Sally, if you happen to read this I would love to have an opportunity to speak with you about bamboo textiles and apparel.

As for the the question of whether bamboo is 'good' or 'bad' or 'green' or 'not green', one would have to look at a much larger picture to make that determination.

A simplified list of considerations, at the least, would be:

The 'crop': where it was grown, how it was grown, what labor resources were used for harvesting, how far was it transported and how.

The fiber: where, how, what labor, transportation

Yarn spinning: same

Knitting: same

Wet processing: This is a pretty big consideration. The preparation of fabric for dyeing, the actual dyeing, and the finishing of fabric is the most chemically intensive process in the life cycle of most textiles and apparel. The US has the most stringent rules and regulations of any country on what air and/or water pollution can occur legally.

Finally, what of the company who produces or markets the goods? What are their policies regarding environmental, social, and sustainability issues? Are they good corporate citizens? Do they actually walk the walk?

Bamboosa will continue to put the footprint of our product line up against most any other textile/apparel products on the market. Certainly US grown and fully US processed organic cotton would be hard to beat for low environmental impact. But Turkish grown organic cotton processed in India or China for example would be no match for US produced bamboo apparel from Chinese organic bamboo fiber. At least that is our opinion.

So to say that 'any' organic cotton is better than 'any' bamboo would seem to be inaccurate. Bamboo fiber apparel wholly produced in China is not on par with a different manufacturing methodology or sourcing strategy. Likewise all organic cottons or all hemp fabrics or any other textiles are not created equally.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17865787.post-18098642050017028982009-07-03T13:23:29.049-04:002009-07-03T13:23:29.049-04:00Thank you So much for this article! I've been holding fast to my organic cotton and linen and yet I've had a person or two tell me I was crazy as bamboo is so much better. I just didn't think so and I couldn't put my finger on why.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13186671318020741935noreply@blogger.com
